Dirty Carnivore Testimonial
Paleo Phil, USA
I have experienced numerous benefits since adopting an ancestral, Paleo-style diet some years ago and further benefits by customizing it for my individual needs into a mostly-raw facultatively carnivorous (aka "dirty carnivore") diet containing plenty of raw animal fat. Some of these benefits are widely regarded as impossible to achieve through diet alone, if at all, such as ...
- resolution of chronic reflux symptoms that had lasted for years and had been worsening
- clearing up of chronic, partially-cystic acne and some small spider veins, moles, skin tags, what I thought were permanent cysts, and other odd skin lesions
- partial firming of teeth that had been increasingly loosening and complete resolution of pain in a hole in the root of one tooth that previously required daily use of a stannous fluoride gel rinse to control
- partial straightening and improved splaying of toes that had been increasingly overlapping
- improvement in night vision that had been worsening
My experience with skeptics and critics of a Paleo or carnivorous-type diet has been that they focus on what's still wrong with you and worry that it means that your approach is an inferior or even dangerous one. While my improvements have been amazing, they are incomplete, so for a testimonial by someone who has been doing the carnivorous approach for a longer time than I have and with fuller results, I refer you to Lex Rooker's story. My diet is similar to his and my experience has matched much of his.
Most of the people I've encountered who are absolutely certain that a dirty carnivore or other ancestral type of diet cannot help anyone have never actually tried it themselves. How can someone knock it if they haven't tried it for even a few weeks or at least a few days? If you're afraid it's going to kill you overnight you can first ask your physician if it's safe to try for a test period. My improvements began within a day but really became noticeable after three and a half weeks, so four weeks may be a fair trial period. Some others didn't gain significant benefits until a month or more, so set the trial period for as long as you and your physician feel comfortable with it.
I highly recommend the Dirty Carnivore forum, founded by Satya and guided by her steady hand. I like Satya's emphasis on supporting one's points with evidence instead of just opinion and heresay. This helps to keep the quality of the discussions high. There you can learn from the successes and failures of others and get help in finding the customized approach that works for you. Question assumptions and dogmas, educate yourself and listen to your body.
Good luck and good health!
